Mood Disorders

Emotional causes are one of the main reasons which disturb our daily life activities. Emotional state refers to the displayed moods internal feelings those are from extreme low, sadness or hollowness (depression) to extreme exciting (Mania) state.

Intensity and severity of these disorders may probe the suicidal factor in a person,

Mood disorders are categorized as.

Depression:  Extreme and persistent feeling of sadness and hollowness leading to suicidal thoughts.

Bipolar: categorized as bipolar I and bipolar II having shifts in the mood that is feeling upset and sad (depression) for few days and then have a mood shift to extreme energy (Mania).

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): feeling the episode of emptiness and sadness (depression) during seasonal change or during day/night hours.

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMS): depression or emotional out bust due to premenstrual cycle of women.

Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia):  prolonged depressive symptoms for more than a year.

Disruptive Mood Disorder (MDD) : mood disorder categorized by temper out bust that is anger episodes usually diagnosed in children of small age.

Depression related to medical illness: depressive or emotional out bust due to some medical condition that is due some medical illness (corona, heart issues..etc.)

Depression due substance use: depressive state or unbalanced emotional state due to use of substance that is drugs such as alcohol, cocaine, cannabis (hash).


When to visit a doctor?

After identifying your symptoms and its category identify its intensity. If you are having frequent episode you should talk to friend or indulge yourself in healthy activity.

  • These emotional out busts are disturbing your daily life activities
  • Your personal relationships
  • Indulging you into risky behaviors that is suicidal idealization or attempts than you need to visit your doctor (clinical psychologist) for the treatment of your emotional out busts.
