What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is usually known as fear. It is the state of worrying about something. It leads towards stress. We can say that anxiety is the unknown fear of the future. Sometimes we start worrying about things and make a chain of negative thoughts and make a worst ending of that situation or problem.

We all suffer from anxiety in different stages of life such as sitting in an examination hall, preparing ourselves for an exam, giving a job interview or having a medical test makes us nervous and anxious about the results.

So anxiety is a natural and automatic biological/psychological response towards any stressful situation.

What are the symptoms of anxiety?

We can divide symptoms of anxiety and are divided in two categories i-e biological and psychological because it affects both.

Biological Symptoms:

Psychological Symptoms

  • Difficulty in concentration

  • Self Consciousness

Types of Anxiety Disorder

  Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

People with GAD feel worried all of the time with no specific reason or unrealistic and little things.

  Panic Disorder

People with panic disorder are having unexpected, repeatedly panic attacks with severe biological symptoms.

  Specific Phobias

People are having phobia or fear from specific things like height, animals, blood, death, closed places, crowded places, Medical illness etc.

  Social Anxiety Disorder

People are having anxiety in gatherings, social situations, fear of being judged by others etc.

  Post Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

People with PTSD are suffering from flash back of any traumatic event like natural disaster, death of beloved one, accident, physical and sexual abuse.

  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD Leads towards repetitive thoughts,Images,urges,doubts  about some specific things and that converts into repeated actions on that thoughts.

What are the causes of anxiety?

First anxiety attacks on the psychological level which leads towards the worst ending or result then it converts into biological level.

Levels of Anxiety

Anxiety has different levels

Mild: On initial level but we can control it( e.g Job Interview, Medical test, Exam etc)

Moderate: It reaches at moderate level when we start facing difficulty in daily routine.

Severe: Leads towards panic attacks

External Factors

  • Professional stress
  • Academic stress ( school/college/university)
  • Financial stress
  • Communication stress
  • Relationship stress (Marriage etc)
  • Phobia or fear from some specific thing (Animals, Heights, closed or congested places, crowded places, death or some Medical illness etc)

Internal Factors

  • If you are having family history of anxiety then it could be the reason of your anxiety.
  • It may travels through genes.
  • Chemical imbalance of brain can cause anxiety.

What is the effective treatment of anxiety?

Yes Anxiety is curable. You don’t need get worry about its cure if you reach the right place.

How much time does it take to recover from anxiety?

Recovering time varies person to person. It depends on the level, severity and type of the anxiety. It also depends on the will power and coping skills of the person.

For the treatment you have to go through a therapeutic session which might take your 40 minutes a week. Number of sessions depends upon your case.
